Presentation

Since 1996, the Master's in Culture & Communication has been training professionals in communication, mediation and public relations in the cultural, heritage (museums, monuments) and creative industries.

Two routes are available:
- Public Arts and Techniques (ATP) which trains experts in culture and communication, mainly in the performing arts but also in the dissemination of visual arts.
- Media, Museums and Heritage: Museocom (MMP) which trains experts in mediation and cultural engineering (exhibition design, audience research) for museums and heritage sites.

The Master 1 year provides the theoretical foundations in the fields of communication and culture, with a specialisation in museology and cultural mediation for the MMP pathway and in public relations for the ATP pathway.
Semester 2 of Master 1 is devoted to hands-on activities and practical workshops (video, production of communication or mediation materials):
- In MMP, this is an exhibition design project, carried out as part of a simulation project that takes place every year in partnership with a local cultural institution (Collection Lambert, Mucem, Epicurium, Musée Vouland, Olympique de Marseille).
- In ATP, this involves a project to design a cultural programme based on audience research, carried out in conjunction with our partners (Festival d'Avignon, La Garance, etc.).

The student then chooses to do the Master 2 year:
- or in initial training with professionalisation through young agencies: alongside teaching and workshops, students devote themselves to managing the agency Museocoma young agency specialising in cultural and heritage engineering, which carries out assignments for cultural institutions (Ministry of Culture, Centre des Monuments Nationaux, Musée départemental de l'Arles antique, La Chartreuse de Villeneuve lez Avignon). The second year of the Master's programme is also devoted to the fieldwork for the research dissertation and the finalisation of its writing. For students on initial training, it is also the year of a 4 to 6 month work placement.
- or alternating Work-based training: the student timetable is divided into weeks of classes and weeks in the company (approximately 1 week of classes per month). Students on sandwich courses attend classes together with students on initial training. Seminars for analysing professional practices are specifically dedicated to work-study students, to help them work on their assignments and work-study dissertations.
