Presentation

The Literature, Medicine and Care DU is an interdisciplinary degree course designed to give students the literary skills, historical knowledge and cultural background they need to enhance their relationship with healthcare professionals.

Public concerned:
This course is aimed at all healthcare professionals (doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, osteopaths, psychologists, psychotherapists, nursing auxiliaries, medical secretaries, etc.), whether in training, working or retired.

Target skills :
-Adapting the principles and methods of literary analysis to listening to and understanding patients.
-Using narrative knowledge in therapeutic management.
-Master precise, nuanced and expressive vocabulary to improve communication skills.
-Develop literary and historical references to complement your experiential knowledge.
-Use your sensitivity to co-construct individualised care protocols.
-Knowing and understanding the issues involved in using writing in therapeutic relationships.
-Recognising new abilities (empowerment) in the experience of illness.

Presentation of the course : The DU raises awareness of the importance of literary skills in patient care. It shows how historical knowledge and cultural references relating to the role of writing and the representation of health issues can improve both care and the experience of carers.
