Presentation

Established in 1984, the Information-Communication degree welcomes around 300 students each year for the L1, L2 and L3 courses. It awards a general three-year diploma that enables students to enter various professional fields of communication and culture.
This disciplinary training (71st CNU section) is based on a multidisciplinary approach in the Humanities and Social Sciences (cross-disciplinary courses: History, Geography), which is reflected in the 1st year courses with the Multidisciplinary Portal.
From L2 onwards, the specialisation and pre-professionalisation process is put in place and reinforced in L3 with a range of pathways (ATP, MMP, ICC, ISTS).
Culture plays an increasingly important role throughout the semesters, with courses on cinema, television, performing arts, visual communication and new technologies. To succeed in your studies, you are strongly advised to take an interest in culture in all its forms.

Objectives
The Bachelor's degree in Information and Communication trains students to acquire specific theoretical and methodological knowledge in Information and Communication Sciences (ICS), as well as critical support and the development of organisational and relational skills in the communication, culture and digital professions. It also trains students in the techniques of written, oral and visual communication in their essential role of information, communication and cultural mediation. This course provides a solid, multi-skilled foundation in information and communication, enabling students to pursue a Master's degree under the best possible conditions.

Special features
The process of specialisation begins in L2 and continues in L3. Students are offered a range of courses. Two courses are offered at the Université d'Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse: Arts et Techniques des Publics (ATP) and Médiations, Musées et Patrimoine (MMP). A lifelong learning programme is offered in partnership with the Institut Supérieur des Techniques du Spectacle (ISTS). A course is offered at the University of Toulon in partnership with the UFR Ingémédia: Information, Communication, Digital Creation (ICC).

International
Students are strongly encouraged to go on an Erasmus trip or to study outside Europe; this is planned for S4, or even for the entire L2 year.
To prepare for your departure, you should contact Laure-Hélène Swinnen, International Relations correspondent in the Information and Communication Sciences Department.

Teaching and laboratory team

The Computer Science degree is taught at the Centre d'Enseignement et de Recherche en Informatique (CERI) of the University of Avignon, in the Agroparc business park.

All LMD IT courses are housed in the modern CERI building, which has 9 IT rooms, 3 network and telecoms rooms, 10 lecture theatres and 2 lecture theatres equipped with audio-video equipment.
This building also houses the University of Avignon's Computer Science Research Laboratory (LIA), to which the Bachelor's degree's lecturers belong.

The CERI has a Conseil de Perfectionnement, made up equally of professionals and teacher-researchers, which defines the broad outlines of IT training at the Université d'Avignon.

The training team is made up of teacher-researchers, secondary school teachers and external contributors from the professional world.

Job opportunities

Target skills
Holders of a Bachelor's degree in Information and Communication analyse communication situations and produce strategies, speeches and advertising and event documents. They work with communication teams, draw up programmes and participate in the management of cultural institutions and businesses (associations, workshops, heritage, museums and festivals in particular).
They design, create and operate digital (websites, social networks, tools, etc.), audiovisual and media spaces.

Information and Communication Sciences are at the crossroads of the Humanities and Social Sciences, so it's important to be curious and cultured, and to sharpen your critical faculties before taking the Information and Communication Licence.

The development of digital technology should not blind us to the fact that communication is, by its very nature, based on a mastery of the written word. The use of computers, even as a virtuoso, is nothing compared to writing skills, analytical abilities and solid general knowledge.

More specifically, this Licence enables students to :
- mastering written and visual languages and oral expression techniques
- develop their critical faculties
- fundamental tools for understanding the many dimensions of communication processes
- initiate a professionalisation process
- acquire methods and tools for analysis and intervention in this sector

The skills targeted by the course are detailed in its RNCP sheet.
